Picking Myself Up By My Bootstraps

The title is something my mom has always said. When you are down pick yourself up and keep going. She can do this amazingly well. This woman has had a harder life than anyone else I have ever met and yet she just keeps going and going and going.

I think for the most part I have done this, picked up those boot straps and did what needs to be done. Even when it is hard. The thing about being a single mom is it is always hard. Don't get me wrong I made all the decisions in my marriage too, but I went through the motions of trying to get him to have an opinion. I at least bounced my ideas off him before he said, do what ever you want. The things I miss about being married are the things I missed when I was married, but I still longed for. They are just more obviously missing now!

Even though life is really hard right now. I feel moments of joy. I feel hope that tomorrow or next year will be a little easier and a little better. I see and feel the love of family and friends all around us. Mostly, I see the Lords hands in our lives. Sometimes small and sometimes big and I am grateful.

So here I go picking myself up by my bootstraps and doing what needs to be done! One step at a time!

Just a Simple Girl

I really am a simple girl. I am happy not having a lot. I don't have fancy clothes or an extensive wardrobe. I don't get to travel or vacation. I don't have a lot of nice things or a fancy car. I was wondering today though what would I wish for if I could have some "things". Not those things I aspire to be, I have my 100 Things List for that, but what would I wish for if I could be completely impractical.


Here is my wish list (yes I am a little vain today)



1. A boob job and tummy tuck!

2. A Daily No Guilt Afternoon Nap

3. A Land Rover Discovery

4. Love, but if love isn't possible how about just a Sugar Daddy that looks like this?

The House

It isn't anything that we are used to, it is definitely downsizing, but it will be all ours! Hopefully set to close on November 20th!

3bed 2bath patio Home. It does have a small backyard and no attached walls! My sweet and gracious children offered no complaints only excitement to have some new beginnings!
